Teri Kent grew up on a hill in the midwest completely surrounded by cornfields and apple trees. The only house to share this hill belonged to her grandparents. Their farm greeted every morning with Sugar standing by the fence post. He was the meanest horse in the county that no one could ever ride. He was also the prettiest white horse ever imagined.
It was a time when every car that passed, Dad waved and explained to his girls where the family lived along the road.
It was also a time, this little girl thought would last forever.
As Teri grew up, the world changed around her as did the characters. Farms were sold and divided. Strangers began to populate the countryside. Many of the apple trees were cut down. But she never forgot life on the hill. It would live on in her imagination.
Teri Kent is a CCAD trained artist and an Ohio University trained educator who lives near the place where she grew up. The quiet landscape has changed dramatically but the spirit remains. Many of her illustrations are inspired by personal experiences. Some are sweet. Some ridiculous. Some based entirely on a weak attempt to be funny.
